Welcome to the site 1st and foremost.
From what I gathered right around sun-up.

I do not know what happened to Des Plaines River Anglers Alliance as I have received 0 responses from E mails AND 0 folks showed at the Outpost last night. Soooo I now have in my possession about 20 of the new CCFPD handbooks. As far as I know they are gone and these books are for anyone that wants them at the fish,kayak,cook off etc.

The latest and believe me greatest COOK COUNTY FOREST PRESERVE DISTRICT book they have ever published.

They list lakes I have never heard of and in areas I have frequented. Each body of water has a google earth picture then they show the depth of the whole thing. It lists launch,wading,boating(kayak,canoe or tube)picnic and fish stocked and it is FREE .

I have and will bring about 20 of them. At one each per household there should be more than enough.

In keeping with the theme and the fact that I still can't think of any good ideas of what to bring, but I'll bring something, this silly idea came to mind. Maybe we can hang it from the rafters at that pavillian and we each fill it secretly with something a WCFer could use in addition to candy. Kinda a last min idea but I'll see if I can pull it off tonight otherwise you have something extra in your tackle box.

Ok, I was making sure I was not going to get stuck working before committing to what I will Bring. All looks good. It looks like most everything is covered. I was going to bring a couple of 6' tables, but I stopped by Whalon on the way home yesterday and saw at least a half dozen picnic tables down in the vicinity of the boat launch. I will definitely be bringing a case of Summer Shanty's and I will not come close to drinking all that. What I do not see on the list is plastic utensils along with bowls/plates and napkins. If this is still a need, let me know and I will pick that stuff up tonight. If there is something else, give me a holler. See ya all in the morning on my maiden kayak voyage.

I hate to say it at this late date, but I may be out. I've been off of work sick the last two days and feel only slightly better today. Going to the doc this afternoon. I'll still wake up early tomorrow, but i'll be a game time decision.

OK it is 5/4/12 and tomorrow is the party. Now will someone finally tell me if there is any electrical outlets available to keep a crock pot FULL of chilli warm? It is thawing out right now.

If I need an ext cord that is OK as I have a couple hundred feet available. Just want to know what I have to start packing into my LITTLE VW pickup

I don't think electrical outlets are available but I'm not sure. They do have some grills you can use assuming the rain holds off. check out the 1st page on this link they're near the pavillian.

I think we can heat stuff up on the grills. That's probably what i'll do.

I think we have PLENTY of food and stuff for the party. Don't let that stop anyone from coming and hanging out.

The 4032 is in fridge with the diet cokes. And the Weber is ready to roll. Trailer tires are holding 40 psi....
Charcoal been sitting out in sun as much as possible. I won't have lighter fluid so Osprey better show up....

Ahh. Now I see why everybody is blowing off my white water adventure offer. I have stupendous timing.

Maybe I'll show up at paddle palooza........ is anybody looking for a Whalen Lake Water ride? (I live just a few minutes away), and only have a canoe in my garage. If I show up, I can bring a fellow site member.


I still have a offer out to my co-worker for kayaking. 1st guaranteed response to either the canoe or kayak offer will get the priority. I will be in all night for the Bulls game, and will check back here periodically. It would be nice to meet some of the members here.

I don't think it will be a problem, when we get there (those of us who show up early that is) we will start the "Occupy Whalon Movement". By stacking some supplies on the park tables our claim will be staked!

Oh man the food was killer! Turds in bacon, chilli, tamales, killer guac and kabobs and a ton more so good.

I burned on rock creek on Friday and doubled my sunburn yesterday.

Jason does not have enough band with to post even 1/2 of the fantastic food that was laid out on THREE picnic benches and about 4 grills.

I will not be able to eat for a few days because I could NOT pass up all those goodies.

Enjoyed it so much I went back out there Sunday morning for about an hour. It was a little windier but the sun was out. Have to keep working on the kayaking skills. Got back home in time for church with the family. the storms rolled in later.

Sounds like we have a volunteer

My 2 cents:

1. Create a new thread with 2013 in the title we have 3 pages on this thread, its just going to add confusion.
2. Keep it at Whalon lake, it's worked out well in the past with the boat dock, decent fishing plus the ammenities, rain shelters are in close eye shot of where guys park their yaks, etc...
3. Saturdays seam to work best, allow to people to choose either 5/4 or 5/11... Don't allow the weekend of 5/18 as a choice, WCF has a tourny that day and most guys can't take off two days to go fishing on a weekend.

Things will fall into place and guys will step up with who's bringing what...
