And this place is boring as hell!!!

BrookfieldAngler wrote:You're issue with the Cast Crew is that you think they are portraying thugs and/or gang bangers by showing weapons in some of their promotional images and graphics? I am just trying to understand what you don't like.
I see the branding as appealing to a demographic that is very often over looked in the sport of fishing. The urban youth and urban angler that has generally always been ignored. I don't see the image of the "thug life" being portrayed. I see the image of inner city living.
A huge issue that is being talked about quite a bit is how to get more inner city people involved in fishing. Groups like http://www.fishin-buddies.net/ is great example of this. Cast has the ability to appeal to them. It makes fishing cool and accessible to them. At least that's what I see from it or maybe I am just giving too much credit to the crew. Maybe they can clear that up for us

Weapons of CAST distruction.
You can have that one, just save me a rookie card.

Welcome to “FISHIN’ BUDDIES!” We believe that through the competitive activities of environmental restoration work and fishing trips, another path of life is revealed for young people who are part of our program.
I think that the program sounds awesome, I would totally back that and think it's awesome that the C.A.S.T crew is helping out. However, when someone says
"I don't see the image of the "thug life" being portrayed. I see the image of inner city living."
I can't help but disagree with it because of ONE reason, the weapons. Plain and simple. Keep the Music, the style and SWAG just lose the weapons because weapons in the city = violence there is no other reason for them. Keep EVERYTHING else, its great and you guys could make a huge positive impact.
Just my point of view, take it for what it is.

Rick definitely livened up the boards for a bit, but I've made my point and am done with this thread.

Cranked wrote:All I'm sayin' is there is no need for weapons. None. It turns me off. You want good branding, appeal to as many as you can. That's good branding. I'm a good demographic.
And BA, you chimp, I didn't say I thought they were "portraying thugs and/or gang bangers by showing weapons". Get your head outta your ass.

Agreed, you can't compare a thug on the street to a guy doing his job in the army who's been through extensive training, no comparison. I can see how you each see your different points of view, no one is right, nor is anyone wrong. Everyone interprets it different, no need to rip anyone because of their opinion.. They have theirs, you have yours. Post your opinion, don't insult one another.. If you strongly disagree with someone shoot them a PM and let them know that way.. Don't trash the boards..
IMO, the pics and all could do without the weapons but if that's their thing then whatever.. I'm here to talk about fishing, if someone carries a 9MM Glock while they fish, I don't care.. doesn't affect me. Just me .02

My comment is as this site grows and more and more mebers join theres gonna be lots of stuff people dont agree on and dislike for others will continue its too bad the way this site goes at times now , but it was bound to happen just like another site i used to be on. Hope things will get better , i guess we will see.
