Chicago Water Reclamation<--LIARS

On the train this morning i read an interesting article in the Red eye as reported by the Tribune. Did not need to tell you guys that our politicians are full of crap, but you do need to know our waterways are, thats if you fish the DPR and Chicago Rivers.. This article is about how these politicians who avoid disinfecting sewage before it is dumped in the rivers, were actually lying to the public about the price tag to modernize our treatment plants, thus continuing to create some of the most pollutated waters in the United States.. I guess it won't be a billion dollars like they said to begin with.. I don't care about the taxes just get it done. My favorite part is how the Chicago water Reclamation feels no one wants to make contact with the Chicago river anyway...http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/watchdog/ct-met-chicago-river-cleanup-20120302,0,1754632.story
i hope that worked

It's simply remarkable that not treating the water further has even been an option for this long. Why would anyone oppose it? This Terence O'Brien, the lone "NO" vote against it, should be investigated. I'll bet you a dollar he has money funneled somehow into his own pockets. What other reason would there be to NOT have clean water.

And as for the Chicago Deep Tunnel Project, it's one of the biggest engineering projects ever. But it's taking longer than the Panama Canal took. Really? Illinois, the land of corruption.

Did I miss something in the article? Why did you include the DPR in your post?

No, you're right the DPR isn't specifically mentioned. However in cook county you the they manage discharges all along the DPR(most of which our storm discharges rather than waste) and also they manage the deep tunnel. Also eventually the ChicagoRiver(S&S) and DPR reconnect on their way to the illinois, so you do have to include the DPR.. If you fish the far northern desplaines you might not be affected, but this could mean good things for the chicago area if its done by 2015 :)

The Nature Museum in Lincoln Park has some interesting displays/information about the Chicago River, its history, and where it stands today. Just thought some of you might want to know....worth checking out. Admission is FREE on Thursdays.

I've brought this up before on other forums and was shocked at the number of "fisherman" who were vocally against Chicago cleaning up their water discharge. The Cal Sag and Chicago River dump in the DPR so that is why it is important for those who fish the lower DPR.

Sometime in the summer take a ride down to the three rivers area where the DPR and K3 meet to form the Illinois, spend some time on the DPR, then spend some time on the K3 - your nose will tell the tale.

fyi - Chicago is responsible for around 20% of all Nitrogen and Phosphorus in Mississippi watershed - yes agriculture provides the bulk, but that is spread out over an area that stretches from South Dakota to Ohio.. /rant

This is great news, baffling that their was such great resistance, but great news none the less

Not sure of the exact address. Its right next to the Lincoln Park Zoo. I believe the History Museum is something else entirely.

I'm pretty sure you are right,,, the history museum is across from the park on clark. Thanks for the heads up though on the exhibit because, if the internet lacks one thing it is good local historical archives and photos, you have see things like that in person.
