First time going

Postby bigboi932 » Apr Fri 07, 2017 2:45 pm

I'm thinking about trying my luck next week I just want to know what are some things to bring other than poles and bait? I'm going to be shore fishing if that makes a difference

A lot of sunscreen and patience. Heidecke is an interesting place for sure. The most coveted shore spots are by the bridge. Everyone will rush there at opening. You can certainly catch fish anywhere though, but it can be very hit or miss. The best baits seem to be cut-bait and chicken livers - even for the game fish. Everytime i've seen shore fisherman carrying out a stringer of hybrids and catfish, it's always with cut-bait and chicken livers.

bring your bike and cast the entire shoreline. Tube jigs, rattle traps, chatters will all probably work especially if the water warms up this weekend.
