Salt Creek 7/17

There are seemingly endless amounts of rivers, creeks and their tributaries throughout northeast Illinois.

Salt Creek 7/17

Postby Steve » Jul Mon 18, 2011 10:30 am

I took my son to Salt Creek to hopefully show him the finer points of fishing flowing water Vs the ponds he likes so much. We got into a lot of really varied fish for a stream of water I think a lot of people write off. We fished at two spots between North Ave and Irving Park Rd. I think that is Addison and Wood Dale? In any event the heat was CRAZY but the fishing was good. We each took in about 15-20 fish.

Very nice man! I really like your blog too.

Remember that kids like adults (but even more so) have good days and bad days when fishing. There are days that my son way out fishes me, days when he could cast in a bucket, when his hook sets are spot on, when he can concentrate for hours. Other days, he finds nothing but trees and is quick to cry despite the fact that fishing is his favorite activity on earth. Keep with it, you and he will both improve. Sometime we'll have to meet up with our sons.

That's awesome! Can't wait until my boy is old enough to take fishing. That's also a nice stretch to fish, I used to hit that spot up on lunch when I worked out that way. I've pulled a many nice bass out of Wood dale grove as well. Dupage forest preserve>ccfp in my opinion.

Yup, Wood Dale grove was my first Bass, I just started fishing a year ago and work in Elmhurst. Salt Creek and the Grove are 5 mins away.

Very nice, how did he react when those little yellow bass hit? They feel like a Mack truck on the end of the line for 2 seconds before they give up.
