Flambeau/Chippewa rivers

There are seemingly endless amounts of rivers, creeks and their tributaries throughout northeast Illinois.

Those are some of the most bronze smallies I have ever seen. They are colored that way up there though. My dad has been calling me every night and they are still killing the walleyes up on his lake trolling with x-raps and clackin minnows. That is a health catfish too!!!! Some real nice country up there.

Not sure if it's valid or not but I remember reading that the Tannin stained waters actually contribute to the coloration of the fish...regardless...absolutely beautiful fish! Nice job!

Where did you stay? Flaters Flambeau Resort? Its where the Flambeau and Chip meet. My family has been fishing there since 1939 when the Flaters purchased that property.. I didn't get any musky this year but a lot of smallies and some decent northern.. Biggest catch there was 54inch sturgeon (still illegal/out of season) a few years ago I caught while catfishing right off the point where the flambeau and chip meet. Great post, nice to see some other chicago area people hitting the same waters as me.
