I had a guy walk up to me a few times, he was older, grey hair under a baseball cap though and he was MANIC about how he was catching Pike after Pike after Pike. He scampered through the brush in his shorts casting out a white strike king talking about how they were the best lures ever. It was also at a time when I was catching nothing.
The two times I saw him he was in my line of site for a few hours each time.
He caught nothing.
Im not sure what his angle is....

It's not impossible, but it is very unlikely. If I had a dime for everytime someone thought a northern was a musky, or a largemouth bass was a smallmouth bass, i'd have about 50 bucks.

yeah i honestly have caught a musky up here, around des plaines. it was about 17 inches long. i know it was a musky because it was silver with blackish faded stripes. but thats the only one ive caught and its been about a year now.
my friend says he catches them all the time but i think hes mistaking them for pike.

No musky in the hood bra,,,,, possibly get into an escape around salt creek or downstream.. Underneath the lower jaw on a pike or musky there are little holes running along the jaw line. They are easily seen with the naked eye... Pike have 3 on each side, Musky have 4 on each side. (think i got the right order there) Trying to describe by color or fin shape is gonna leave a debate, especially for someone who is seeing one up close for the first time. The only time I was confused is when I caught a hybrid on the Flambeau, she was really dark, but knew after a second it was no pike. otherwise the muskies I've seen are crystal clear.
