Any good gear case lube will work. Once you decide on one, stick with it as long as you own that motor. As for the carpet, any good washer will work. I know a guy that swears by using a power washer on his. If the battery is sealed, do not try to open it.

Painting aluminum can be kind of tricky. If you don't do it right, paint will peel right off. If you are really interested shoot me a PM and I will give you all the gory details. Don't feel like typing out a 5 page dissertation at the moment. However, I will be more than happy to tell you what I know later on.
