Hit what's become my favorite LCFP lake from about 3pm to 5pm. Although definitely not the toughest conditions ever experienced, but the consistent wind made casting a challenge. The wind was against me the whole time there, but I know that if you bide your time and find a lull you can get a decent cast out and usually find some nice fish. That was the strategy of the day . . . . wait for the wind to die down and get a good cast out to the drop-off just beyond the weedbeds. Do this and score nice 14-15"ers with the occasional 16-17"er. anything short and it was dink city.
Caught an easy dozen dinks when the wind beat me and my casts fell short, but the action was steady and they fought pretty well. Here's the largest of the day, a nice 17"er that I had to wrestle out of the weeds.
I had to leave around 5pm to get to a soccer league registration for my son only to find out from the wifey that it actually started 30 minutes later than expected. So I stopped at a local pond on the way for 20 minutes or so and ran into a certain White Sox fan here that likes to poke fun at my Cubbies! He and his cousin had already caught some decent bass so I was encouraged. Threw senkos at first, but quickly decided to change to a black spinnerbait with double willow blades. I wanted to cover as much water as possible since I was short on time. Just before I needed to leave I hooked into this bass
17" was apparently the limit the fish gods placed on me this week (caught 3 this week). Still on the hunt for my 2012 goal of a 20"er.
